Completely hidden from the street, this recently redecorated garden flat provides you with two private entrances off a large gated manicured garden. Your own private expansive covered bricked front porch spans the width of the garden right out the front door and leads to a beautiful meditation garden. Relax and rejuvenate in the freshness of the mature tropical garden and watch for the butterflies. The large garden is filled with a large variety of giant white birds of paradise, black bamboo, a variety of palms, and tropical plants and flowers.
This garden was originally created in the 1930's by a woman with vision named Ms. Molly Parker. She planted this private garden as a retreat to relax, romance, recreate, and restore the sense of self by reconnecting with nature. The homes on the property were built to celebrate the gardens. Today the tranquility of this historic garden helps to wash away the demands and stresses of life. When you are ready for the beach you are just a short stroll away from white sands, turquoise waters, and historic piers. It is an easy walk to the grocery store, Cuban coffee, French and Cuban fare, and local art galleries.
When researching the origin of this garden, we were thrilled to find a 1939 Key West Citizen Newspaper reported written about Ms Parker and her garden. It stated then what we still enjoy today "visitors find what imaginations have pictured..." lavish growth of tropical vegetation, fragrant flowers, and slender stemmed palms cutting the skyline, velvety butterflies idling in the sunshine. (The Key West Citizen, Dec. 27, 1939).
