Captain’s Quarters vacation rental suite is ideally situated on tiny Ann Street, where the Key West downtown Old Town and Historic Seaport neighborhoods meet. A command view of famous Greene Street from the front porch, rent this suite and you’re a stones throw from Front Street, literally around the corner from Sloppy Joe’s Bar on Duval Street, and just down the street from some of Key West’s main attractions including the Mallory Square Sunset Celebration, Mel Fisher Treasure Museum, Custom House Museum, Conch Train Station, and Key West Historic Harbor to name just a few. And yet Captain’s Quarters puts you just far enough away from the thoroughfare to find peace and quiet for a great night sleep. Compare these features and the exact location of this suite to the expensive hotels around the corner, and you know you’ve found a great deal!
Interior Layout:
Recently renovated and newly furnished, this spacious suite with 2 private porches is comprised of one-half of the entire 2nd floor (or a full one-quarter) of our 2-story Key West Quarter House. Captain’s Quarters provides a full 600 Square feet of hidden interior living space plus its own private covered back porch off the bedroom. The straight forward layout provides a beautifully furnished living-room and fully equipped kitchen at the front of the unit and bedroom and bathroom at the rear. Truth be known, the living room kitchen area is as large as most free-standing Key West conch cottages, and the back porch provides a private little outdoor living space all your own.
Inside, the ceiling of the living room and kitchen have been finished right up to the roof-line making the main living area feel even larger. Light wood kitchen cabinetry topped with large black granite tiles give the suite a contemporary look. A ‘supper bar’ set with four round leather topped bar stools separate the kitchen and living room, and give plenty of room to sit and enjoy a home-cooked meal if you decide to stay in. Light wood floors and walls painted lemon-cream sorbet; provide a refreshing backdrop for the cushy ice-blue sleeper sofa and multi-colored striped slipper chairs, and contemporary art work in the living room. A 36 inch flat-screen TV is mounted on the wall for easy viewing from the living room and kitchen.
The bedroom in Captain’s Quarters vacation rental suite is much larger than you’ll find in most expensive hotel rooms down the street, and of course the private back balcony porch adjoining the bedroom makes it even larger. Bedroom décor is kept simple and to the point with a king size bed, wicker tables and reading lamps on either side of the bed. Walls received the same lemon-cream sorbet color as the front of the unit and the floor is carpeted with basic stock. Oh yes, and the bedroom provides a full size closet. The full bathroom has a tub and in-tub shower and updated with a single vanity sink.
Exterior:
In our presentation of the Key West Quarter House, I briefly present some history pertaining to this simple vernacular conch style building, attempting to determine its historic role on the block. Compared to many of the other historic buildings around the neighborhood, it’s very unassuming and pragmatic and when you drive by it you would never know it has this beautiful Captain's Quarter's suite inside. Nonetheless, the slate grey exterior has just recently received some fresh paint and gingerbread, and the front now proudly flies the blue flag of the Conch Republic.
SWIMMING POOL NOTE: If you have your heart set on lounging around a swimming pool, Dante’s Key West is close by at 951 Caroline Street. Dante’s is a beautiful resort-style pool-bar restaurant open from 11 am til 7 pm, right on the Key West Harbor Walk. The swimming pool is large and immaculately kept and you are welcome to use the pool with a purchase of a drink (or food ) you can enjoy while you relax. The scene is casually elegant and offers a real taste of the Key West “resort life” without the expensive cost of renting a luxury hotel. Between the Suite Escape vacation rental, and Dante’s resort style pool bar restaurant you can have it all at an affordable price!
