Downtown Porch Garden Suite ~ Steps from Duval vacation rental is just exactly that. About 100 yards from all the action, it’s completely hidden from the street … so nobody knows it’s there! Talk about a downtown location … If you’re looking for things to see and do in Key West just walk out the gate and you’re there! From this spot you’re just around the corner from Sloppy Joes Bar, the Mel Fisher Treasure Museum, the Custom House Museum, Mallory Square Sunset Celebration, the Key West Aquarium, Key West’s famous Historic Seaport harbor walk, to name just a few of the most famous places in the neighborhood. In fact Greene Street is literally steps from the front curb.

The unique amenities of this hidden ground level suite include a hidden private covered and screened-in porch that spans the entire width of the building, plus a Jacuzzi hot tub in the fenced back yard!  The interior offers about 600 square feet of living space, not including the large covered back porch. Guests have commented that this suite is incredibly quiet for its location and that they have no trouble getting a good night sleep. Compare these features and the exact location of this suite to the expensive hotels around the corner, and you know you’ve found a great deal!

The Layout:

Because of its unique location on Ann Street, this building has some fascinating history that you can read more about in our presentation of the Key West Quarter House. Set right in the middle of where the Cuban Cigar industry rapidly emerged in the late 1800’s this was, and still is, near the center of the action on the island. The building is a great example of original Key West vernacular conch-style architecture with its gingerbread porches, but overall it is very unassuming in stature. Nonetheless, it is a nice fixture in the neighborhood and stands as one of Key West’s proud centurion structures. Today it proudly flies the blue flag of the Conch Republic.

Outside: Completely hidden from the street, the Downtown Porch Garden Suite ~ Steps from Duval encompasses the entire downstairs back of the building. You enter the unit through a tall gate at the left side of the house that leads to the back yard. Straight ahead is the fenced in back yard where you find the large Jacuzzi tub and some lounge chairs. A few steps up lead into the elevated back porch, that’s set with outside furniture for lounging. A double set of French doors adjoin the porch and serve as the main entrance to the unit.

Inside: The living room has very nice quality furnishings that include a queen sized sleeper sofa for extra sleeping. The cream colored palate creates a calm and relaxing tone throughout the unit. We hope you spend most of your time ‘out and about in Key West’ enjoying the island sites, but there is a 36 inch flat screen TV mounted on the wall so you can catch the news or an important sports event. 

Straight ahead you find the spacious galley kitchen that has been recently upgraded with stone tile counter tops, full size black appliances, and a breakfast bar with beautiful round bar stools and ample counter space. The bedroom, located off the hall, offers a king size bed and full closet. The full bathroom has a tub and shower, nice vanity sink and a large mirror with vanity lights.

Amenities: Equipped kitchen, microwave, a/c, cable TV. Covered front balcony-porch with view of Greene Street (on the Historic Seaport Harbor Walk – between the seaport and Mallory Square). Private covered back balcony-porch off the bedroom. Linens and towels are provided. Maid service can be scheduled for an additional fee. Shared washer / dryer.

SWIMMING POOL NOTE: If you have your heart set on lounging around a swimming pool, Dante’s Key West is close by at 951 Caroline Street. Dante’s is a beautiful resort-style pool-bar restaurant right on the Key West Harbor Walk.  The swimming pool, open from 11 am til 7 pm, is large and immaculately kept and you are welcome to use the pool with the purchase of a drink or food. The scene is casually elegant and offers a real taste of the Key West “resort life” without the expensive cost of renting a luxury hotel.  Between the Suite Escape vacation rental, and Dante’s resort style pool bar restaurant you can have it all at an affordable price!

Linens and towels are provided.  Maid service can be scheduled for an additional fee. As of August 29, 2011 there is not washer / dryer at this property however laundry service is available. A washer / dryer is scheduled to be installed and this web page will be updated when this is completed.

Parking: Private off - Street Parking for one car. But really, you don’t need a car so leave it at home. If you arrive by car plan to park it in your designated private parking space and enjoy walking or biking around the island.

Activities: Just down the street from the Mel Fisher Treasure Museum, the Custom House Museum, Mallory Square Sunset Celebration, the Key West Aquarium, too many great restaurants to mention. Around the corner from Sloppy Joes Bar, and short stroll to the famous Key West Historic Seaport. Close to theaters, shopping, water sports and beaches.  All Old Town features are a short distance.

Area: Downtown Old Town Historic Key West.  Block off Duval Street, walk to all Old Town Key West features. Great restaurants, shops, galleries, clubs, Hemingway House Museum, Light House Museum, Custom House Museum, Key West Aquarium, Ship Wreck Museum. 5 minute walk to the famous Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square.

Restrictions: Smoke free house. This property is best for adults. We do not accept guests less than 25 years of age unless accompanied by an older adults or guardian. Smoking permitted outside only. Absolutely no pets. (Please don't ask!)
