Top of Duval ~ Incognito Penthouse Suites vacation rental is an outrageously colorful 2nd floor – penthouse style property, comprised of six oh-so-colorfully renovated individual suites that can be utilized as 6 separate suites or as one larger penthouse. When all the suites are rented together as one property you enjoy fantastic privacy and space with a great down-look view of Duval Street on one side of the property, and a serene ground level private resort-style swimming pool on the other. By combining the six suites together, this property is at once fast and fun or laid back and lazy – ideal for a larger group. Located in the 800 block of Duval Street, between Duval Street and Shaver’s Lane, Top of Duval ~ Incognito Penthouse Suites is cleverly hidden to suit its name.*  The front entrance for the property is hidden off Shaver’s lane, where the ground level swimming pool is neatly tucked behind a privacy fence in a nice big yard. Even though you’re right downtown in the mix of it all, the outdoor setting feels very secluded because it is set back beyond its own private parking lot.

THE DESIGN:

The interior décor of the Top of Duval ~Incognito Penthouse Suites is a splash of color that will make you smile the minute you walk in the door. Hallway walls are painted a vibrant tropical blue and vivid green that let you know in a second that you’re in the tropics and ready for fun. Every suite has received its own identity complete with its own name and unique décor. To integrate the spaces, the entire penthouse has beautiful new exotic dark stained bamboo flooring.  All rooms in the house have nice quality tropical furnishings with bright colors.  All bathrooms have been maintained and restored to keep their original Key West tiles and fixtures, and all provide tubs and in-tub showers.

Wonderful things happen when new owners unleash their creative side to redesign six Duval Street suites so they can comfortably be rented either together or separately. This is how it works: The ‘T-Shape’ interior layout has 2 suites at ‘the Top of the T’ with windows overlooking Duval Street, and  4 larger bedroom suites located along either side of the hallway at ‘the stem of the T’ with views overlooking either side of the building. When you rent the entire Top of Duval ~ Incognito Penthouse Suites, the 2 studio suites overlooking Duval Street become the main interior gathering place for everyone.  Comprised of over ¼ of the entire back of the interior, these spaces give you nearly 700 SQ FT of combined floor space where the Mile Zero Suite (Suite 6) on one side can be set as your kitchen / dining room / living room, and the Cuban Club Suite (Suite 5) can be set as a lounge / bar with kitchen on the other.

Both of these studio suite rooms are made to feel spacious with five foot square arches that point to the view of Duval Street below. Drop leaf tables are ready to pull together to set a dining table so your group can sit and eat together. Both Duval side suites have living room sofas in the rooms overlooking Duval Street. Since both of these suite rooms have new queen size Murphy beds (that neatly disappear into the wall) they also function as sleeping rooms, depending on the needs of your group ...   but more on the sleeping configuration below. Note: Our slide show displays photos of the Mile Zero Suite (Suite 6) set as a dining room in one photo, and as a sleeping room with a Murphy bed in another.

When it’s Time to Retreat to Relax and Sleep:

When it’s time to retreat to your own space, the other 4 full bedroom suites located off the hall, offer ultimate privacy and plenty of room. Not only does each private bedroom suite provide a luxurious bedroom with en-suite bathroom, each one has its own separate den with queen sleeper sofa, plus its own kitchen! Five foot bi-fold privacy doors in each bedroom suite separate the dens from the bedrooms, so both the bedroom and the den in each room can comfortably function as bedrooms depending on the sleeping needs of your group. And, if you want to stay to yourself, you have your own kitchen to boot!

Each bedroom suite with den and kitchen has just been colorfully re-done and each one received it own unique style and identity. Suite Key West (Suite 1) and The Paradise Suite (Suite 2) and are situated towards the middle of the interior with entrance doors on the top of the ‘T’ across from the two studio suites overlooking Duval. The Little Palm Suite (Suite 3) and Key Lime Suite (Suite 4) and are located on the stem of the ‘T’ with entrance doors toward the end of the hallway across from each other.

Main Entrance and Resort-Style Swimming Pool:

The main entrance for the property is through an exterior switch-back stair case just beyond the swimming pool. Conveniently, there is also a 2^nd entrance that leads directly to Duval Street. Once inside, you’re completely hidden, far from the view of the bustle down below on Duval Street. The private swimming pool and lounging area is situated ground level off Shavers Lane. The pool area is made private with a fence and tropical landscaping. A landscaped parking lot adds an additional barrier of distance for the swimming pool from the lane.

This place really is like having your own private urban-island Duval Street Resort. You’re in the mix of it all, with fantastic eateries and fun bars, and some of the best restaurants in Key West within steps of the property.  Yet, you have abundant privacy overlooking the scene below.

Amenities: Private resort style swimming pool. Brand new renovation. 2 studio suites overlooking Duval Street that can be set as a living room / kitchen / dining room and lounge / bar. 4 private bedroom suites, each with a den and kitchen. Each suite has fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher, separate central a/c, flat screen cable TV. Linens and towels are provided. Laundry room at the end of the hall. Catering can be arranged. Maid service can be scheduled.

Parking: Private off - street parking for 5 cars.  Absolutely no boat or trailer parking allowed.  Car or small truck parking only! From this location you do not need a car. Enjoy walking or biking around the island.  Walk everywhere, take a petty-cab, ride a bike, or take a taxi if you need to.  Cars in this area can be a hassle to deal with. Remember, this part of the island was built before cars!  If you can’t find a parking space, no whining … :-) 

Activities: Downtown Old Town Key West on Duval Street in the world famous 800 block. On the Duval Street side you’re right in the mix of famous Key West restaurants like Croissants De France and award winning 915, right next to the most lucious Swirilicous Frozen Yogurt,  near unique shops like Cuba Cuba and Glass Reunions. You’re just down the block from the 801 Bourbon Bar in one direction, and in the other, the elegant Upper Duval Street shops. Pretty South Beach is close by at the end of the South end of Duval, and the lower Duval night club scene, Mallory Square Sunset Celebration and Key West Harbor are a short walk away. Sailing, boating, diving - museums, all close by.

Restrictions: Smoke free property. This property is not "child-proof." Location is best for adults, but well behaved children who are good travelers are okay. We do not accept guests less than 25 years of age unless accompanied by a family group or guardian. Smoking permitted outside only. Absolutely no pets. (Please don't ask!) This property is offered as an exclusive vacation rental in the most requested location in Key West.

Area: Walk out your door and you’re in the mix of it all. Best restaurants, shops, galleries, clubs, Hemingway House Museum, Light House Museum, Custom House Museum, aquarium, Ship Wreck Museum, Southern Most Point of the U.S., close to beaches. Walk everywhere from here.
