Just as you're inspired by an island oasis, so is this tropical Island Oasis Garden Home vacation rental. Cleverly hidden in the heart of Old Town Key West, this small private gated oasis uses a traditional Key West style architecture of tin roofs, wooden planking, sash windows, and charming front porches. Center to the outdoors you enjoy a large rectangular swimming pool surrounded by a lush tropical garden, a private counterpoint to the bustle of downtown beyond the French door gate. Indoors, the feeling is at once open, airy, charming, and breathtaking.

The 2nd floor atrium is what creates the "ah..." feeling of this home. Take the stair case to the second floor to reach the private master bedroom and master bath, and at the landing you find a wide carpeted "cat walk" hallway and railing that extends around the exterior walls to create a wonderful "look down" to the first floor. It's fun to just stand on the cat walk and enjoy the feeling this unique space creates. An extra-long ceiling fan hung from the open wide beams creates a sort of "Casa Blanca" effect. Take the walk around the wall to the French door that leads to the 2nd floor front porch to relax on comfortable seating and take a birds-eye view of the swimming pool and oasis garden.

Since the only rooms on the second floor are the master bedroom with en-suite private master bath, the exclusive upstairs location affords maximum privacy. The large master bedroom is carpeted and offers a king size bed and walk-in closet. The master bathroom, with granite vanity top, has a bath tub with in-tub shower.

The second bedroom and bathroom are downstairs on the first floor. This bedroom also offers two twin beds (can be made into a king) plus an en-suite bathroom, creating a very desirable second ‘master bedroom.’ The bathroom, which provides a shower and granite top vanity, also stands as the guest bath via a locking door connecting to the living room.

Traditional Key West builders like the authentic feel that wooden floors achieve. In the living room, the owners have complimented the light wood floors with a Caribbean combination of blues and sand tones. Works of art portraying island life decorate the walls. Inviting living room furnishings provide a comfortable sleeper sofa and an easy chair for kicking back.

The tile floor U-shaped kitchen with granite counter tops, is a great use of space that relates to the living room with an eating/serving bar (with stools) ... so the cook is sure to enjoy the fun while preparations are made for meals and entertaining. The kitchen is fully equipped, and a tropical dining area is created between the kitchen and the side deck, with round glass-top dining table with coco-colored woven water hyacinth dining chairs.

A set of French doors leads to the private side deck, which is appointed with a café table, chairs, and chaise lounge. The laundry area, with a washer / dryer, is also located off the deck. The location of the unit in the compound is central, just steps away from the pool. 

Notes on this property would not be complete without mention of an important detail of authentic Key West architecture - the alluring front porch with picket fence railing. A tonic for the hurried traveler, there is something about the porch that invites you to ease off, lean back, and wile away the lazy sunny days. And let me not forget; this property offers even one more coveted feature in Key West... private designated parking!

Area: The center district of Old Town Key West is the "residential heart" and the pulse of the island, with Truman Avenue going straight down the middle of it. Historic streets are lined with more and more wooden Victorian homes and cottages built by early ship builders and men of wealth, and more modern interpretations, like this property, are inspired by the historic builders. A hand full of side streets intersect with little lanes with names like Love Lane, Nassau Lane, Poorhouse Lane, and Catholic Lane - each a reflection of a more innocent yesteryear. Ernest Hemmingway lived in this neighborhood and his home is now a museum open to the public.

Parking: This townhouse has private designated off-street parking for one car. However, with this central location you never need to get in your car. Enjoy walking or biking everywhere - you'll see more that way.

Restrictions: 7 night minimum, even in off-season. Smoke free house. No pets. We do not accept guests less than 25 years of age unless accompanied by a family group or guardian. The property is located in a private residential townhouse complex and is definitely not suitable for staging loud parties. Maximum of 4 guests allowed.

One of the cleanest places we have stayed. We would stay here again if we came back to Key West. Centrally located yet quiet except for an occasional siren or rooster crowing. Down stairs bedding needs to be replaced. Enjoyed our time here the little we were there except to sleep.

Only issues-need better directions to parking lot-very hard to find. Units refrigerator is making very loud noises, may be on last leg. Otherwise it was an awesome place. Great location, pool and the unit was very clean and beautiful. Would recommend to anyone.
