It’s all about the signature view from the living room and wrap-around back porch that takes this Key West Golf Club townhome to a class all of its own. Overlooking the tranquil lake at the 16th hole, this property has no neighbors on one side, expanding your view and privacy even more. Now the only question is … "To Tee or not to tee."
But regardless whether golf is your game, the Key West Golf and Country Club promises a stay in one of the most esthetical residential neighborhoods in the Florida Keys. Beyond the masterfully Rees Jones designed 18-hole golf course, here you’ll enjoy 200 acres of lovely tropical scenery with mature landscaping, lakes, fountains, wildlife viewing, bird watching, two community swimming pools, a gym, and a resort style club house. All the homes in this gated community are designed in the charming Key West “conch cottage” architecture, displaying tin roofs, pastel siding, white picket fences, and flowering arbors, plus it provides the added benefit of a 24-hour security attendant.
Interior Layout: Enter the front door of the Key West Cottage on the 16th Hole vacation rental, and take-in the welcoming minimalist tropical décor of pale yellow, light blue and sandstone. This room runs the length of the house, from the kitchen at the front, to the living-room at the back. Wide white window shades create a clean line along one side of the room. Pastel colored tropical artwork on the walls throughout create a timeless island style that is consistent with the calming surroundings of the golf course location. The straight-forward layout of the great-room makes it easy for relaxing and entertaining.
Great Room: Directly inside the front door to the right, a fully equipped U-shaped galley kitchen with breakfast bar provides the ideal set up for talking with family and friends while preparing meals and having morning coffee, breakfast, and lunch.
Towards the middle of the great room near the kitchen, a dining table is set next to the wall and is easily pulled out for sharing sit-down meals. Across the room from the dining table is a half-bath with sink and commode. Towards the back of the room, the entertainment grouping is set with a white leather sofa, sea-grass wing-back and 42 inch flat-screen TV.
Double sets of sash windows on two walls bring in the sunlight, while oversized sliding glass doors span the width of the back wall opening to an expansive wrap-around covered wooden screened in porch. When the doors are opened, you can maximize the indoor-outdoor island lifestyle that Key West is famous for.
Wrap Around Outdoor Covered Porch: The porch on this home provides a spacious outdoor room with the signature view that everyone looks for in a golf course property. Overlooking a tranquil lake at the 16th hole, from here you are perfectly positioned to see amazing Florida Keys bird wildlife such as anhinga, white heron, ibis, bald eagle, osprey, and more amidst the perfectly manicured landscaping of the golf course. The porch is set as a beautiful outdoor room with comfortable wicker lounge furniture, a counter height cocktail table, and ceiling fans. The porch ceiling is painted ‘haint’ blue, a southern and Caribbean tradition. Lore proclaims that it wards off evil spirits. Today it’s a fun detail that is loved by Key Westers.
Upstairs: Back inside, near the front doorway, a staircase leads to the 2nd floor where we find the 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Each bedroom is painted a calming slate-blue color, trimmed in white, and sandstone colored floor tiles.
Immediately at the top of the stairs, and straight ahead, is bedroom one which provides a queen-size bed. Peaked ceilings give this room a spacious feel. Décor gives a definite Key West coastal vibe, with a playful ‘white picket fence’ headboard bedside tables on either side of the bed, a multi-sea color bureau and tropical artwork. This bedroom has a window view overlooking the golf course lake on the 16th hole. There is also a 36-inch flat-screen TV mounted on the wall.
The shared upstairs bathroom is steps away from each bedroom, easily accessed off the hallway that connects the rooms. Decorated in pale yellow, there is a single vanity with a granite countertop, topped with a stylish glass bowl vessel sink. There is a bathtub with in-tub shower.
Back to the top of the stairs as our reference point, turn to the right and walk down the hallway toward the front of the house to find bedroom two, furnished with a Queen-size bed. The premier feature of this bedroom are French doors that lead to a private covered porch spanning the width of the condo. The porch offers a beautiful view of the mature tropical landscaping and greens around. There is also a 36 inch wall mounted flat-screen TV for your pleasure.
Grounds: A Free form swimming pool with waterfall, and sun deck outlined with palm trees, is just down the street from Key West Cottage on the 16th Hole, a quick stroll away. There is also a 2nd swimming pool a little further down. Both pools are shown in our slide show. As you settle into the peacefulness of this neighborhood, you’ll discover the relaxing distraction it offers from the bustle of Old Town Key West; a welcome retreat after enjoying the hum of the downtown heartbeat.
