An exclusive island style brownstone perfectly nestled in Key West’s most prominent gated waterfront neighborhood known as ‘Truman Annex’, this striking tri-level historic building has all the architectural allure of a19th century urban Bostonian brownstone with an unparalleled modern Caribbean reinterpretation. Originally built in the 1800’s as the ‘Foundry Building’ for the Civil War ‘Fort Zachary Taylor,’ an architectural transformation in the mid 1990’s redesigned this unique brick building to become luxurious town homes surrounded by peaceful tropical gardens set near the turquoise sea.
As a contemporary luxury town home, this beautiful Island Brownstone vacation rental offers a dramatic and spacious layout. Features and details include 12 foot ceilings, artistic crown molding, lots of windows and French doors, and second floor balcony off the master bedroom. The front entrance is outlined with a stately white picket fence and a little bricked tropical garden complete with sitting porch. Tall white double French doors with transom windows lead into the open-air tiled living room and galley kitchen.
The conversion of this structure from brick foundry to contemporary town homemade maximum use of the extraordinarily tall building space. The end result is three floors with three distinct living areas. The first floor lay-out is comprised of the living room with soaring 12 foot ceilings, galley kitchen with ‘breakfast bar,’ and powder room (half-bath). The living room is set with contemporary island style pieces in South Beach colors of mimosa pink, soft teal green, and pantone gold blending harmoniously with the red brick exterior of the historic building. Groupings of tropical art set on pink-vanilla colored walls surround a comfortable sofa and easy chairs and natural wood and wicker furnishings. The overall effect is calming and elegant. A dramatic stair case set to the back of the living room seems to draw one in to the upstairs bedrooms.
The second floor is where you find the master bedroom with King Size bed, full en-suite bathroom and private balcony with single pane French doors. This spacious bedroom is beautifully is painted in sage green, floors are finished with terracotta tiles, and furnishings include handsome honey tone wood and wicker pieces with sage green accents. An entertainment armoire holds a 42 inch flat screen TV, and a bench at the foot of the bed makes the room complete.
The en-suite master bathroom makes a tropical statement with custom wallpaper with a pattern of lavender passion flowers and golden pineapples. A framed mirror, painted sage green, is hung over the single basin bath vanity, giving a nice contrast to the walls. The second floor also houses the hidden laundry center, conveniently located behind closet doors just outside the bedroom door.
The stair case then leads to the 3rd floor, where you find bedroom two, with a full en-suite bathroom. The bathroom provides the same color theme and layout as the master bathroom, but is beautifully decorated with a different pretty pattern of tropical floral wallpaper. This 3rd floor bedroom is furnished with two twin beds that can be easily pushed together to make a King size bed, and is every bit as relaxing and inviting as the master bedroom. On one side, built in shelves have been added, where the flat screen TV is set.
The unique floor plan of this townhouse incorporates the stair case into the third floor bedroom, with artwork in the foyer landing and a privacy door at the bottom of the stairs. While there is no balcony on the 3rd floor, large windows invite the light and offer a nice view of the beautiful grounds below. Painted the same soft sage green as the other bedroom, the floors are done in light wood rather than tile.Since both the 2nd floor bedroom and the 3rd floor bedroom are separated by entire floors, and each have their own private en-suite bathrooms they can both easily function as ‘master suites.’ In this sense, this property can be ideal for two couples who both prefer a bedroom with private en-suite bathroom.
The resort-style swimming pool for this townhome complex property is found around the corner to the front side of the building, and then ‘kitty-corner’ across the lane. The setting is immaculate and beautifully landscaped complete with lounge chairs for sunning and cabana pool garden area for relaxing in the shade. Another wonderful feature of this residence is one private designated parking space which is located just outside the little front garden entrance to this unit.
Note: This townhome, Island Brownstone, is the identical floor plan and in the same townhome complex as you find in our Foundry on the Waterfront. The main difference is the interior décor.

Fifteen minute walk to Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square. Old Town features are within walking distance. Leave your car at home.
Area: Down Town Key West. Located in “Truman Annex” Just steps away from all Key West Old Town features. Grounds throughout the gated "Truman Annex" complex are park-like - exquisitely landscaped and manicured to picturesque perfection, making it a delightful neighborhood to walk and bicycle. From here you are just a few minutes’ walk to Duval St. and the center of downtown Old Town Key West. White picket fences, freshly clipped hedges, green grounds and fountains create an impressive back drop for your stroll around this unique neighborhood. Original military officer's homes that display romantic classic Italian and Greek revival architectural styles have been renovated into large private luxury mansions. Just out the gate towards the ocean is Fort Zachary Taylor, now a State Park with one of the nicest beaches on Key West.
Parking: This condominium has private designated off-street parking for one car in front of the property. However, from here you really never need to get in your car. Enjoy walking or biking everywhere you'll see more that way.
Restrictions: Smoke Free House. No pets (please don't ask). We do not accept guests less than 25 years of age unless accompanied by a family group or guardian. This property is offered as an exclusive vacation rental in Old Town Key West. The property is located in a private gated residential complex and is definitely not suitable for staging loud parties.

“Clean is our number one factor when rating. This place was spotless and located perfectly in a lovely area, but only a 5 minute walk to all the happenings. It could use a dresser in the master bedroom, but that did not affect much.
