About Your Hosts

• Key West fishing guide Captain Chris Mendola has over 25 years of experience fishing and diving the waters offshore Key West and the Florida Keys. Key West is located between the Gulf of Mexico and Florida Straits, and because of its location there are many different species of fish. The Gulf of Mexico is loaded with old ship wrecks which are home to a variety of Snapper, Grouper, Jacks, Permit, African Pompano, Cobia, and King Mackerel just to name a few! On the Atlantic side is one of the biggest barrier reefs in the world and is home to thousands of different fish species. Fishing the reefs offshore Key West is great fun and usually results in catching a mixed bag of edible fish. Captain Chris spends much of his time fishing offshore, targeting big game fish including Tuna, Wahoo, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Marlin, and Swordfish. He's won multiple offshore tournaments in Key West, and the Bahamas. Daytime fishing for sword fish is one of Chris's specialties. He's also a very experienced free diver, scuba diver, and spear fisherman. It would be his pleasure to take you out on the fishing adventure of a lifetime!

 

What You'll Do

• Venture offshore with your personal fishing guide on this 6 person (max) fishing charter. You will get to try your luck at catching some of the most sought after game fish in the sport. Captain Chris can arrange for a full day of fishing or mix it up with a stop at the local sandbar for sunset. Custom charters are his specialty, so you can be sure of experiencing your ultimate Key West fishing trip.

 

What Will Be Provided

• The crew at Far Out will provide you with all the top of the line gear and tackle needed to fish in Key West. The Far Out fishing fleet is equipped with the best Shimano and Penn rods & reels. You are welcome to bring your own gear, but feel free to leave it up to the pros. You will need sunscreen and clothing that provides sun protection is recommended. The Captain will stock the boat with sodas and waters, you should consider bringing along a lunch on longer trips.

 

Where They'll Be

• The Far Out Fishing Charter leaves from Stock Island. Access to the Key West Yacht Club is included with every trip. There is parking at the marina. The restaurants at the marina can prepare your catch to your linking. This is a great way to end the day after a long fishing trip.
