Christmas Spirit in Tropical Key West

A late night walk gave me a nice dose of Key West Christmas that made it absolutely clear that there is no need for cold or snow to get swept away with the spirit. I was taken by this simple salt-box house on Virginia Street all trimmed out in decorations hand-made by children. Heartfelt likenesses of ‘Frosty’ and ‘Santa’ and gingerbread cookies and candy canes tied up with red bows and bangles.
As I headed for Higgs Beach, I passed by ‘Salute on the Beach’ where employees joyfully sang ‘Frosty the Snowman’ as they broke down the beach-side table settings for the night. It’s very nice to sing ‘Joy to the World,’ in shorts and a T-Shirt. Shivering and shoveling really isn’t required to find the magic.
