The Key West End Of Summer Bucket List

IMG_1243

Here's a list of VHKW's top five end of summer musts from the southern most city. These are the activities and events you'll wan't to get in before Fall fully settles. The kids are back in school and the weather is staring to change, but you still have time for these last little savory bits of summer.

Brew Fest 2015: This week long event is already under way! The big ticket happening takes place this weekend, with over 150 beers to be tasted. There are various dinners and tastings around town. Tickets and information can be found here: http://www.keywestbrewfest.com/

Enjoy The Great Boating Conditions: The water is flat and clear this time of year. Get out there and make the best of it. Doesn't matter if you ride with the crew at Fury or charter a private boat, it won't make a difference once you are surrounded by the pristine blue waters. The water clarity is great right now so make sure to strap on a mask, jump in, and see what lies beneath.

Take a Bike Ride Through Old Town: This is how the locals do it! There are many bike rental companies and a few bike tours as well. The slower pace gives you more time to look around and see the sights. Also riding the bike lets you cover more ground and see more sites than walking allows. Bike tours can be arranged here: http://lloydstropicalbiketour.com/

Explore One of Our Great Parks: There are more than a few great parks in The Florida Keys. The most notable being the Dry Tortugas & Fort Jefferson. There is also lots to explore just up the keys, at Bahi Honda State Park. If your looking for an outdoors experience, and don't want to venture off Key West, The Fort  Zachary Taylor State Park is a great place to spend the day. Located just at the end of Southard St. in Key West, the park features a beach with great snorkeling and a Civil War era fort to explore.

RELAX!: Maybe the most overlooked thing to do in Key West. Yes that's right, put down the smartphone, put down the tablet, and disconnect for a few hours. Whether you find peace and quiet at one of the pocket parks or beaches around town, keep an eye out, you'll find your own little piece of key west. The town has so many little over looked areas that are off the beaten path and must be sought out. Our vacation rentals with private pools also offer a tremendous amount of serenity, the kind you wont find at any hotel.
