Hurricane Irma Update – September 22, 2017

Even a category 4 hurricane can’t keep the spirit of Key West down! As you know Key West sustained devastating winds from Hurricane Irma less than two weeks ago, and with the help of amazing first responders, our island community is making incredible progress in the efforts to clean up. While this storm was a catastrophic hurricane, the island of Key West was truly spared.
At VHKW we are happy to report that none of our vacation rental homes where damaged by flooding. The VHKW office and rental properties did not sustain any structural damage. There are a lot of trees down and properties are still being cleaned up. This is a labor intensive process and will take some time. We expect all properties to be restored and fully operational before the current re-entry of visitors slated for October 20th. If this date is brought forward by emergency officials, we will provide updates as we receive this information.

Business owners and locals have been working day and night in an effort to get Key West back up and running ASAP. Local businesses are reopening and residents are feeling optimistic after seeing all the progress that has already been made.

We have taken some photos of some of our favorite places around town. We know that return visitors are keen to see their local favorites are still standing.

Key West still remains closed to visitors at this time. We appreciate everyone’s patience while we clean up paradise. See you soon!
