Inspired by romantic turn-of-the-century architecture, Bella Grand Premier Estate is a unique Old Town Key West estate with a new twist on history. Custom built on a 7,520 square foot lot, it was designed to reflect the historic neighborhood, while reinventing the Key West luxury lifestyle.
The property is comprised of a grand 2,900 sq ft 2 – Story Main House situated toward the rear of the property, plus an equally stunning 1,400 sq ft 2 - story Guest House at the front, providing all the spaciousness and upscale amenities expected in a contemporary luxury island home.
Both the Main House and Guest House are free-standing. Each home provides its own expansive open-concept great room, fully equipped chef’s kitchen, decorated bedrooms with custom en-suite bathrooms, plus ½ bathrooms off each downstairs great-room. Both houses have covered outdoor porches, dining, and lounging areas.
In the middle of the estate property, both houses border a spectacular Zen-garden swimming pool, trickling tiled waterfalls and a spa. While we are waiting for photos of some of the rooms that are receiving final details, we provide a detailed description of the room layout and essential décor. We will be updating this web page as the finishing details are made and the photo shoot is complete. We are happy to answer any specific details about this luxury property.
Located on a quiet street in the heart of Old Town Key West, the curb-side view of the Bella Grand Premier Estate displays all the traditional charm of days gone by. At the front of the property, the 2-story Guest House blends in perfectly with the historic neighboring houses. It masterfully camouflages the Main House and the swimming pool-scape, giving all the appearances of being the only home on the lot.
A traditional Key West front sitting porch, complete with colorful Adirondack chairs, spans the width of the Guest House. A tree garden and quintessential white picket fence provide an idyllic spot to sit and enjoy the ambiance of the neighborhood.
In the beginning of our photo slide show, we show how the front Guest House and the rear Main House, are built relation to each other on the estate property. The 1st photo was taken from the street, and shows the front of the Guest House, as described above. The 2nd photo was taken standing behind the Guest House. From here we see the front of the grand Main House and how it is situated at the rear of the property. We also get a spectacular view of the swimming pool-scape between the houses and see how the stone bridges connect them.
We enter the Guest House through the main entrance, accessed from the street side front sitting porch. Inside the front door, the visual transformation from the traditional Key West porch to the expansive modern great room is stunning and provides a taste of what’s ahead.
Immediately inside the front door, a classic banister staircase leads our eye to the 2nd floor to the two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. But first we shift our focus to the right, to see how the great room spans the entire length of the building. Sand-tone walls, bright white trim, high ceilings with recessed lighting, and multiple sash windows, make the room feel light and airy. Mahogany hardwood floors integrate the space, and lead to the back of the house where single-pane French doors open to the magnificent outdoor swimming pool-scape.
Living Room – The living room grouping is set to relax, read, and watch movies on the 50” flat screen TV. Comfortably furnished with a cushy blue-grey leather sofa and chair, this room will soon be installed with original abstract artwork commissioned by the owner.
Kitchen - At the back of the great room, a fully equipped chef’s kitchen, with double stainless sink, stainless steel appliances, is beautifully built-out with in cream colored French Country cabinetry and spectacular green-tone Brazilian granite. For extra food prep, a butcher-block island with pendant lighting, is set in the center of the kitchen. The lighting also makes a beautiful serving table. A standing height breakfast counter with stools is the perfect place for snacking, cocktails, and chatting while cooking.
Half Bath and Laundry Center - Immediately to the left of the breakfast counter, a hallway leads past the bottom of the staircase to a half-bathroom with a sink and commode. In our slideshow, you can see the open door to the bathroom at the end of the hall. This bathroom also serves as the ‘pool-bath,’ with an exterior door that leads to the pool deck. Along the hallway, a laundry center with folding table, is conveniently hidden away behind doors.
Returning to the front door entrance of the house, we take the staircase to the 2nd floor, where we find two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. A skylight over the stairs invites plenty of daylight, and an pendant lamp in the stairwell adds ambiance at night. Sand-tone walls, white trim, and mahogany flooring and are carried up the stairs and throughout both bedrooms and the hallway.
Bedroom Suite One (Bedroom One) – While we wait for the photos of this bedroom suite, here we provide a description of the location and amenities. The landing at the top of the staircase intersects with the bedroom hall. This hallway parallels the right side of the house, from the back to the front. Bedroom one is situated closest to the landing, at the back of the house. This bedroom suite provides a king size bed, a walk-in closet, and is handsomely furnished.
The en-suite luxury bathroom is finished with polished jade-green and black granite, a single white vanity-sink with mirror, and chrome fixtures. The over-size designer shower has frameless glass shower doors and is exquisitely tiled. The bathroom is well lit with vanity lights over the mirror plus a sash window for natural light and a view nice down-look view.
Bedroom Suite Two (Bedroom Two)– The second bedroom suite is included in our slideshow, with photos of the bedroom and bathroom. Located at the opposite end of the hall from the first bedroom suite, it is at the front of the house. Eclectically furnished with a notable queen size mahogany antique bed, a matching dropleaf desk, and Parisian style chair, give the room a classic touch. The coastal style side tables, floor lamp, and beach knick knacks bring in the island vibe. There is no need for a bureau, as this bedroom also has a spacious walk-in closet.
The en-suite bathroom is cheerful and elegant. Done in soft cream tone cabinetry, walls, and tile, it has the additional feature of a soaking tub with in-tub shower plus a skylight overhead. The single vanity is topped with a contrasting grey-green composite countertop that is extended to provide more counter space. A large medicine cabinet with vanity mirror with lights, plus a hanging cosmetic shelf provide the perfect place for primping.
Guest House Back Porch:
Back downstairs, and immediately outside the Guest House kitchen, a deep covered porch spans the width of the house. It is comfortably furnished with chaise lounges and a table and chairs for outside dining. This porch seamlessly joins the pool deck with textured stone tile that spans around the pool and forms the bridges leading to the Main House.
SWIMMING POOL GARDEN
The focal point of the Bella Grand Premier Estate is the lushly landscaped Zen-garden swimming pool-scape. Water is alluring, and right out the back French doors of the Guest House, we are drawn into the sleek contemporary waterscape. Both calming and invigorating, the trickling tiled waterfalls engage our senses and are relaxing to hear. The blue pool and spa are soothing to see, restorative to body, mind, and spirit, and cooling in the tropical climate.
There are two stone swimming pool bridges that span the width of the pool. They are wide, aesthetically impressive, and easy to cross. But the bridges are much more than mere aesthetics. They create an interactive experience in the pool garden when you cross them. Along the way, you may be enticed to pause and dangle your feet in the water or come right back for a relaxing dip. But the pool bridges are much more than mere aesthetics and water entertainment, they also fulfill the important function of leading you to the grand Main House at the back of the estate.
Approaching the Main House as you cross the pool, you may understandably think this is a renovated historic Key West home dating to the late 1800’s. Some people guess it is the original house that was built back off the street with a deep front yard. Set in this historic Old Town Key West neighborhood, among a variety of heritage houses and cottages, the masterful design looks convincingly authentic. Built with wood, covered porches with tall ceilings, capital topped posts, turned balustrades, and traditional wooden shutters all contribute to the look. But when you step inside, it’s different story.
While there are multiple ways to enter the house, our photo tour begins from the front porch, where we step inside the double French doors at the left. Designed as a grand great room, the open concept space spans all the way from the front porch doors that lead to the living room area, to the gourmet kitchen at back of the house. The entire space is painted in a soft cream and trimmed in white. Same as the Guest house, mahogany floors span the entire space and high ceilings with recessed lighting, and multiple sash windows, give the room an uplifting feel.
Living Room - In our photo you see that the living room is set with a long-curved cotton-duck sectional sofa and a cream-colored Berber style rug. The sofa is large enough for the entire family to sit together and view the wall mounted flat screen TV, which is not shown in the photo. One of grandest features of this space is the wooden switch-back staircase, which sits prominently in the center of the room. The staircase adds an elegant historic feature to the room, with its curved railing, dark wood steps and white painted risers. It also creates a natural divider between the living room area and kitchen / dining room located at the back of the house.
As you admire what’s to come, we’d like to add a special note. The owners of this Key West estate are purveyors of a live destination jazz club that pairs world music with inspired cuisine. They love to cook and play music, and this home not only provides amazing kitchens, it has a remarkable grill porch and features extraordinary musical instruments.
Grill Porch - Architecturally designed to look like a historic Key West front porch, the grill porch tastefully blends in with the home. You can access it through side doors connected with the great room or from steps that lead to the pool deck. Built with everything a grill-master could want, it has a large stainless-steel Viking grill, beverage-sized fridge and stainless-steel prep sink. Granite counter tops, and Cherrywood cabinets make the space beautiful, and a porch swing invites you to hang out while the griller makes the magic. At the time our photo was taken, the outdoor dining table had not yet been placed.
Upright Steinway Piano and Martin Guitar – Stepping back inside the great room, our tour takes us past the banister staircase where we pause for a moment, to admire the beautiful black Steinway Piano and Acoustic Martin Guitar. With a heart-felt intent to spread the magic of music with this home, the owners invite guests to enjoy these top-quality instruments.
Kitchen - Situated at the back of the great room, the main gourmet kitchen has all the upscale attributes a professional chef would expect, including stainless prep sink, double kitchen sink, and top-of-the-line stainless-steel appliances. The gas Viking stove has double ovens and grill top, and the large capacity refrigerator offers plenty of space.
Cream tone French Country style cabinets built to the ceiling and contrasting beige and gold granite countertops. The design is beautiful and well thought out with perfect lighting, and plenty of room to cook together and store your goods. A dual height island in the center of the kitchen, holds the prep sink on the bottom level, and above is the breakfast countertop.
When it’s time to sit down and eat together, a dining table with French Country wire chandelier is placed just to the side of the island in perfect position for serving. If you prefer to sit outside to take your morning coffee or after dinner drink, the rear French doors open to a fence in back deck that runs along the back of the house.
Next, we walk back towards the living room, and turn left at the hallway just before the piano. This hall leads to the downstairs bedroom suite on the left, and an office/den to the right. A half-bath is conveniently located at the end of the hall.
Downstairs Bedroom Suite (Bedroom Three) – Decorated with a pretty mix of white farmhouse and coastal furniture, the downstairs bedroom provides a wooden queen size bed with matching dresser and mirror. To the left of the door is an ample size walk in closet / dressing room. To right of the door, there is matching desk set against the wall. The desk is large enough for a laptop and printer.
Full length tropical green curtains frame the double French doors. Step outside to the fenced and landscaped deck that runs along the back of the house. Whomever gets this bedroom can slide right into the hammock placed right outside the French doors.
The downstairs en-suite bathroom is made gorgeous with the same top- quality tile, marble and granite used throughout the estate. An intricate pattern of earth tone tumbled tile around bathtub with in-tub shower is something to gaze at when you take a soak. A deluxe Parisian green wooden medicine cabinet with matching single vanity topped with pink marble, and elegant lighting compete the perfect bathroom.
Office / Den – Returning to the downstairs hallway, the office / den is directly across the hall from the bedroom. Painted a grey-green and trimmed in white, it sets an unobtrusive tone to allow for focus without distraction. This room is on the front side if the house. It is filled with natural light with four large sash windows that look out into the grill porch described above.
The office/den is minimally furnished with a tailored beige sofa at one end of the room, and a flat screen TV on the opposite wall. A 6-foot wooden table makes a great space to work, study, play a game of chess, draw, or put together an ongoing puzzle the entire family can work on. We do not yet have a photo of this room in our slide show.
Returning to our slideshow, we share a photo of the traditional wooden switch-back staircase taken from the top landing, and a snapshot of the elegant wire chandelier hung in the stairwell. Staircases are an important feature of historic Key West homes, and this contemporary rendition and creates all the best of the vintage feel. The staircase makes a graceful entrance to the 2nd floor where we find the luxury master bedroom suite, the second bedroom suite, and the laundry / housekeeping room.
Master Bedroom Suite (Bedroom Four)
The entrance for the master suite is the first door on your left in the foyer upstairs foyer. The layout is ideal with a dedicated space for everything you look for in a luxury master suite. Four different rooms seamlessly flow together through double pocket doors, spanning the entire width of the house.
Gym – The entrance door to the master suite leads into the spacious home gym. Immediately inside the door to the right, is a Cherrywood wet bar with a stainless wine / beverage fridge and a bar size sink. Straight ahead on the opposite wall, an exterior sash window has a view of the back of the property. Facing this wall, a double pocket door to the master bedroom is to your left.
Bedroom – The master bedroom is furnished with top quality mid-century modern wooden furniture, including a king size platform bed, a splayed legged 6 drawer bureau, bedside tables, plus a classic curved arm leather easy chair. The dark wood tone is a handsome contrast to the khaki-colored bedroom walls. A 40” flat-screen TV is mounted above the bureau for easy viewing from bed. Four sash windows provide plenty of daylight and nice outside views.
Dressing Room and Walk-In Closets – Double pocket doors lead from the gym into the spacious dressing room. Designed for a couple, there are two large walk-in closets with ample shelving, drawers, and hanging rods on opposite ends of the dressing room.
Shower and Vanity Room – Next in line, pocket doors lead to the spa-like shower room and vanity room. Like the other spaces in the master suite, this room spans the entire width of the house. Earth tones of sage green, grey, and brown, create calming ambiance to start the day and get ready for bed.
The double sized shower is finished with gray marble subway tiles and seamless glass doors and has a window that opens to the outside. There are two identical four feet wide vanity sinks, one on each side of the room. Both have soft white bases and are fitted with grey marble tops, undermount sinks, and designer chrome fittings, and wide mirrors mounted above.
Commode Room: Last, but not least, is the separate commode room – and … it has a view! A real wow factor for sure - a sash window with a private view of a mature tree garden outside, creating the illusion of being in a remote forest.
Bedroom Suite Five (Bedroom Five) – The fifth bedroom suite is located at the front of the Main House, directly across the foyer from the master suite. The design, layout, and décor resemble the downstairs bedroom suite. White farmhouse and lime green coastal furniture are combined to create a pretty bedroom the offers a wooden queen size bed, dresser, and generous size desk. In contrast, walls are painted in an upbeat tropical green with bright white trim. To the left of the desk, is a large walk-in closet with lots of hanging rods and shelves. The enviable feature of this bedroom is the private entrance the French doors give to the 2nd floor covered porch on the front of the house.
The en-suite bathroom is made deluxe with the same top-quality tile and stone and granite found throughout the estate. The shower is double sized and has an overhead rain shower and seamless glass doors. Using earth tone tumbled tile, an impressive curved-arch tile detail is built on one wall, that nearly to the ceiling. An off-white wooden medicine cabinet with matching single vanity topped with contrasting black stone top and side-mounted cabinet lighting create a beautiful bathroom with plenty of space to store toiletries.
Laundry Center and Housekeeping Room: Returning to the foyer, there is a hallway that runs between the master bedroom suite, and the second bedroom. Along the hall there is large linen closet with extra towels and linens. At the end of the hall, a walk-in laundry / housekeeping room has a side-by-side large tumble washer and dryer, with a folding table fitted on top. Wall mount cabinets above the washer / dryer make convenient storage for laundry products. Two windows keep the room light and provide outside views while working.
DRIVEWAY AND COVERED CARPORT
Returning outside to the street side of the Bella Grand Premier Estate, it’s worth pointing out the gated bricked driveway and carport at the front of the property, attached to the side of the Guest House. This is a rare feature to find in Old Town Key West. There is space to easily park two cars, with one under the carport and the other in the driveway. A doorway at the back of the carport provides easy access to the pool garden and bridges to the Main House at the rear of the property. This feature is shown in the last photo of our slide show.

Just a few short streets from Duval St. (remember it takes 3 to 4 Key West streets to make a city block); See Key West Sunsets at the Mallory Square Sunset Celebration, and local Old Town Key West retailers. Close to entertainment and adventures including sailing, boating, diving, museums, music, nightlife. A five-minute stroll the the fascinating Historic Key West Cemetary. Close to art galleries, and a variety of national and international restaurants, coffee shops.
Area: The center of Old Town neighborhood is the residential heart with an incredible variety of historic houses. Some streets intersect with adorable lanes like Galveston Lane, Love Lane, Poorhouse Lane, and Catholic Lane. Select homes are offered as private vacation rental estates. Take a charming walking path to neighborhood Bill Butler Park. Not far from the Key West Historic Seaport on the gulf side of the island and the original lower Duval Street area. Many cottages and houses were built by early settlers of the late 1800's who built cigar manufacturing warehouses, shipping docks, and restaurants. These charming lanes and streets now stand as testimony to Key West’s colorful past. Walk around this neighborhood and enjoy one of the largest and most impressive collection of turn-of-the-century architecture in the U.S.A. Many of these houses and cottages have been restored and renovated to stand in their finest form and some are available to rent.
Parking: Off-street parking is available for two vehicles on a gated bricked driveway and a covered carport. If you bring cars, once you’re settled in, enjoy walking or biking everywhere. You won’t really need a car in most instances, and you’ll avoid the expense and hassle of parking around the tiny island.
Restrictions: This is a SMOKE FREE house. Pets are generally not allowed, but special consideration may be made at the sole discretion of the owner and agents, with an additional pet fee.
